I have never lived in the place I’m from.
For eighteen years, home has been Tokyo, before that London, with stops in several other far-flung locations. I photograph the way I’ve lived: at the edge of belonging, drawn to it and drawn to those who choose to stand apart from it..
What I see: boundaries that mark who is in and who is out, walls and rules that guide us, glances that ask why, people alone in the middle of a crowd, and work that is solitary until it isn’t.
